Cleaning Products
I try to use products from companies that state they are either vegetarian and/or vegan, that they use recycled packaging, are enviornment friendly and are cruelty free. Ofcourse, expect to pay much more for these types of products. I find it is worth it. Most of the companies products and more senstive on the skin, along with less 'perfumey' and 'artificial' and of better quality.
Keep in mind, that many companies are owned by or are part of other companies, that may not be to concerned for the envionrment, animals or you. Please go to my 'Products - Vegetarian' (link below) page for more information about this.
For cleaning, I have found Earth Friendly Product, which has a great line of earth-friendly cleaning products, which do not have a lot of artifical scents, and strong chemicals, that some people find offensive along with unhealthy to inhale. I have used thier Window Cleaner and Orange Plus - All Purpose Cleaner and their lanudry detergent. Their webste states; "Our award-winning product line is based on simple, yet highly effective ingredients derived from replenishable, plant-based sources, including corn, coconut, citrus and other essential plant oils, and herbs. When developing our products we adhere to a strict Freedom Code, a list of chemicals and ingredients that are not used in our products. We are also free of animal testing and ingredients."
Seventh Generation, has a great line of paper and cleaning products. I have used their toilet tissue, laundry detergent and many other of their products. Their website states; "Seventh Generation is the nation's leading brand of non-toxic and environmentally safe household products." and "We derive our name from the Iroquois belief that "In our every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations. Every time you use a Seventh Generation product you are making a difference by saving natural resources, reducing pollution, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations."
Mia Rose Products Inc, has a wonderful natural air freshner, Air Therapy, which uses no artificial man-made chemical deodorizes.
Ecover states; "Ecover was established in 1979 and was the first to market ecological cleaning products on a large scale. Many people were attracted by Ecover's innovative company philosophy, in which respect for people, animals and the environment are at the forefront." They carry fabric softner, non-chlorine bleach, and much more. I have used their Natural Automatic Dishwashing Powder - No Chlorine Bleach'. Thier products are not tested on animals
Leaping Bunny's website states'-
"By 1996 "cruelty free" shopping had become so popular as to become confusing, sometimes misleading and ultimately frustrating. Companies had begun designing their own bunny logos, abiding by their own definition of "cruelty free" or "animal friendly" without the participation of animal protection groups."
"In response, seven national animal protection groups banded together to form the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC). The CCIC promotes a single standard with an internationally recognized logo to help make shopping for animal-friendly products easier and more trustworthy."
They go on to name the organizations;
Beauty Without Cruelty, USA: (212) 989-8073
Some of their International Partners;
There are many companies that carry similar products. I have just listed the ones I personally use. Most grocery stores will carry them.
